Volunteer Job Description – Discipline Chairman

Job Description:
- The VMFHL Discipline Chairman is a volunteer part-time position to be appointed by the VMFHL board (executive). This volunteer reports to the President and the board (executive).
Job Description:
- The League Administrator will receive discipline reports and complaints from umpires, TDs, captains, managers and coaches.
- Upon receiving a complaint, the Discipline Chairman will investigate and shall decide what action should be taken (before teams next game). The decision will be reviewed by league executive board member(s).
- The club of the offending player (to be disciplined) should be notified of possible disciplinary action immediately.
- To support the Discipline Chairman three documents provide the framework for decision making:
- Discipline Guidelines,
- VMFHL Bylaws (Sections 5 and Section 8)
- VMFHL Code of Conduct.
- There is no appeal of any suspension of 30 days (minimum of 4 games) or less.
Hours of Work Per Week:
- Hours per week will be approximately 0-5 hours depending on the week.
Length of Appointment:
- The Discipline Director position is appointed each year by the VMFHL board (executive). The volunteer position ends at the end of each VMFHL season (end of playoffs), usually March. The term of the position is approximately, but not limited to a 24 week season.
- The Discipline Director works directly with the League Administrator. Discipline Director takes direction and guidance from the League Executive through the President (and in the President's absence, the Vice-President). Last season the Discipline Chairman was supported by both the President and Vice-President in their decision making in their first year.

Volunteer Job Description – Umpire Coordinator

Job Description:
- The VMFHL umpire coordinator is a volunteer part-time position to be appointed by the VMFHL board (executive) and an honorarium as set forth below. This volunteer reports to the League Administrator and the board (executive).
Position Requirements:
- Responsible for coordinating all umpire activity for VMFHL, including regular season games, playoff games and the New Castle Shield tournament (if applicable). Responsible for hiring umpires, maintaining umpire schedule, coordinating for umpire payment with Treasurer, and ensuring that all games are covered. Must be available by phone during scheduled game times in case of a no-show, and will be responsible for contacting a replacement.
Position Responsibilities:
Pre-Season –
- Hire all umpires for upcoming season
- Coordinate umpire clinics for proper training of younger umpires.
- Review FHC rule changes to make recommendations for changes.
- Create Umpire Briefing document and host an Umpire Briefing Session where all Umpires must attend at the beginning of the season.
In-Season –
- Manage all umpire activity and be readily available for rules discussions.
- Act as Umpire coordinator for New Castle Shield tournament.
- Address any umpire concerns from coaches, managers or executive.
- Manage game sheets and update them to the website
- Umpire Training – send out regular email updates to umpires
- Umpire Mentoring – schedule umpire assessors and mentors
End of Season –
- Ensure all umpires have been paid properly and if not, contact Treasurer to resolve the situation.
- Provide a brief summary of the year (Umpire Coordinator’s Report), including recommendations, for inclusion in the minutes of the AGM board meeting.
Honorarium:
Hours of Work Per Week:
- Hours per week will be approximately 7.5 hours.
Length of Appointment:
- The Umpire Coordinator position is appointed each year by the VMFHL board (executive). The volunteer position ends at the end of each VMFHL season (end of playoffs), usually March. The term of the position is approximately, but not limited to a 20 week season.
Organizational Structure:
- The Umpire Coordinator works directly with the League Administrator on the day to day business of scheduling umpires. Both the Umpire Coordinator and the League Administrator work with the club contacts and umpires in the performance of their duties. The Umpire Coordinator and League Administrator take direction and guidance from the League Executive through the President (and in the President's absence, the Vice-President).
